Every year brings fresh ideas to kitchen design, but 2025 is shaping up to be particularly interesting.

We’re seeing a real shift in how people want their kitchens to look and feel, with a strong push toward natural materials and clever use of space.

Having worked with kitchens for years, we’re genuinely excited about where design is heading – here’s what we’re seeing emerge.

Natural Materials Lead the Way

The appetite for natural materials just keeps growing. Kitchen worktops are moving away from artificial finishes in favour of raw, authentic surfaces.

We’re seeing beautiful combinations like oak cabinetry with a limestone backsplash, while quartz countertops with bold veining are proving incredibly popular.

Here’s what’s catching our eye:

  • Rich wood grains in natural tones
  • Raw stone textures and finishes
  • Earth-inspired colour palettes
  • Tactile matte surfaces

Bold Colours and Statement Features

The era of playing it safe with neutral kitchens is definitely behind us.

Deep greens, rich blues and sophisticated blacks are making their mark, often anchored by a granite kitchen island that works as both a practical hub and visual centrepiece.

The move toward bolder choices reflects growing confidence in kitchen design, with homeowners ready to express more personality in their spaces.

Two-tone cabinets particularly stand out, creating dynamic contrasts that draw the eye and define different zones within the kitchen.

Some standout design elements include:

  • Two-tone cabinet combinations
  • Textured surfaces in dark shades
  • Statement lighting features
  • Distinctive hardware choices
  • Contrasting materials

Open Storage and Clever Use of Space

Ceramic stone features with integrated lighting create natural focal points, while smart storage keeps everyday items within reach but out of sight.

Successful open shelving mixes practical items with decorative pieces, using varied heights and depths to create interest. The overall effect should enhance rather than clutter the space.

One particularly exciting innovation already offered at Landford Stone, is the invisible hob system. This technology brings together the best of both worlds – all the convenience of induction cooking with the clean, uninterrupted look of a premium worktop.

Combined with our Oyster Ceramica surfaces, it creates a versatile cooking area that looks beautiful whether in use or not.

We’ve installed a working system in our Salisbury showroom, where you can see how this innovative technology works in person. To learn more about the invisible hob system or arrange a showroom visit, contact our team.

Built to Last

Ceramic worktops continue to be immensely popular and the eco choice, manufactured mainly from recycled materials without the resins found in other surfaces.

They’re tough, they look good, and they’re built to handle years of daily use. Regular cooks particularly value durability, as the surfaces stand up exceptionally well to heat, scratches, and daily wear.

Mixed Finishes

The days of matching every metal finish are over. Today’s kitchens confidently mix brass handles with matte black fixtures and brushed metalwork. Such combinations bring character and depth to kitchen design.

Successful mixed-metal kitchens typically feature one dominant finish, with others as accents, creating a cohesive look while maintaining visual interest.

The mix extends beyond handles and taps to lighting fixtures, appliances, and decorative elements.

Individuality rules so worktops equally are used to blend in or stand out!

Looking Forward

As we head into 2025, stone for kitchens offers more possibilities than ever.

Whether you’re planning a full renovation or updating key elements, there are plenty of exciting ways to create a kitchen that works for modern living.
