From bold and beautiful monochrome kitchens, to practical and stylish dining islands, we’re here to take you through the latest kitchen design trends of Autumn 2021. As colder weather sets in and we begin to retreat indoors, our attention often turns to creating the perfect cosy living space for longer Winter evenings. This is reflected in the emerging trends for Autumn, which feature bold colours, cosy integrated dining areas and luxurious finishing touches.
1. Monochrome Kitchens
Effortlessly modern and timelessly cool, the monochrome kitchen always remains on trend for people wanting a slick kitchen. The muted colours of black, white and grey offer a contemporary feel but this can be customised and bought to life using light wood, gold taps and plants around the kitchen.
Quartz compliments the monochrome kitchen extremely well, thanks to its sleek stain-resistant finish and the variety of shades and marbling available. White countertops are as in-demand as ever this year, and quartz is an affordable choice for those looking for style and longevity for their kitchen surfaces.
2. Dining Islands
The kitchen island has become a constant staple in the modern kitchen. Over the years its popularity has grown because it gives you another worktop, more storage and an additional seating area. However, we are now seeing more and more adjoined kitchen tables and we are expecting them to become more popular into 2022 and beyond.
A dining island gives you even more space for seating and eating and looks incredibly stylish when matched with a contrasting kitchen island counter top. The natural finish of granite or limestone for your kitchen surfaces works best to compliment a wooden dining island, and a bold pattern on your dining chairs finishes off a warm country cottage look perfectly.
3. Green Kitchens
Be the envy of your friends with a green kitchen this Autumn. After being named paint colour of the year in 2020, green continues to be top of our interior design wishlist. A naturally calming colour, we love the contrast of a sleek modern countertop against warm, earthy toned walls.
Marble makes for a stunning fusion of retro and modern aesthetic when combined with a classic sage green, or why not try a modern white quartz with bold emerald cabinets for a real statement space.
4. Marble Veining
Need a stunning surface for your contemporary or traditional kitchen? Look no further than marble with strong and sprawling veining patterns.
Although this is a bold look, it can be paired with muted or matte cabinet colours to make the pattern into the focal point of your kitchen. Our top tip for marble is always to view your slabs in person to ensure that your worktop is perfect for you. Our customers love finding the perfect piece of marble at our yard and then seeing it come to life in their home.
5. Natural Stone Floors
Exposed brick-work has been a reoccurring trend on walls across coffee shops and kitchens for the past 10 years, and now designers are bringing that aesthetic to their kitchen floor. The more natural-looking surface, the better. As the weather turns colder, it’s impossible to resist the idea of underfloor heating, and the heat conducting properties of natural stone can make that a reality.
The options for stone flooring are huge, but we’re currently loving herringbone marble in natural shades of buff and grey, especially when paired with darker cabinets or furniture. Marble is hard, sound and dense, making it incredibly reliable even for high footfall areas.
